Coastal Sands & Rocky Shores

From the white sands of Carmel to the tide pools of Asilomar, discover the best beaches on the peninsula.

Asilomar State Beach

Located in Pacific Grove, this rugged beach features a famous coastal trail perfect for sunset walks and observing harbor seals.

Lovers Point

A manicured park and beach area ideal for kayaking, swimming, and picnics. It is one of the few spots on the west coast where you can watch the sunrise over the water.

The "Local's Secret" Drive: Ocean View Boulevard

While most tourists head straight for the paid gates of Pebble Beach, locals know that the most spectacular scenery on the Peninsula is actually free. Start at the end of Cannery Row and follow Ocean View Boulevard all the way into Pacific Grove.

This drive takes about 20 minutes, but you’ll want to pull over at the many scenic parking areas. You’ll find tiny, secluded beach pockets where you can kick off your shoes, get your feet wet, or carefully explore the granite rocks. My personal favorite stop is Lovers Point—it’s the perfect spot for photography.

🐿️ A Note on the Wildlife:

Be prepared for the local squirrels! Years of visitors have made them incredibly bold. They aren't afraid of people and will often come right up to you looking for a snack. While they are fun to watch, remember to keep a respectful distance from all our coastal wildlife.

If you are in the area, do not miss this drive. It costs nothing, and the views are unparalleled.
