What is ARTS HABITAT? *It began as a wish for affordable artists' studio space. *The wish grew into an idea - an idea for artists' live/work space in buildings in the former Ft. Ord. *The idea inspired a vision - a dream - which included artists from all disciplines coming to live, work and create art together in a very special place: the Historic District of the East Garrison of Ft. Ord. *That vision developed into a plan for a multicultural community in which visual, performing, and literary artists and arts organizations will create a place for creating art. *Because the vision and plan were so compelling it was embraced by hundreds of people in the communities surrounding Ft. Ord, and people in high places began to take notice. *And because so many people have embraced the plan ARtS HABITAT will soon become a reality, a set of renovated buildings, the beginning of a community, the realization of a dream. |
