Salinas wastewater ponds MTY bad photo snapped of bird described above |
The BENDIRE'S THRASHER is a very local breeder in the Mojave Desert of southern California, and a very scarce fall & winter vagrant to the coast.
All of my California records of vagrants, or of breeders away from their
"usual" spots, are listed below. Those preceded by H
were
found or co-found by me personally; those preceded by
K
receive
some partial credit (e.g., I was involved in sorting out i.d. of a previously
discovered bird or refound a vagrant that had been thought to have left).
These are my personal Bendire's Thrasher records:
| 10/17/75 | Santa Barbara I. SBA | |
| ~10/25/75 | Courtland SAC | stake-out coming to feeder in Parker's back yard |
| 5/27/91 | 4 mi above Butterbredt Springs KER | singing male on territory |
| 9/5/93 | Salinas wastewater ponds MTY | sketch & typed description & bad photo (above) |
| 2/14/99 | Talbert Nature Reserve, Costa Mesa ORA | details in notes |
